Afternoon All,

This has probably been discussed a thousand times so apologies, my 1.8 turbo has just over 102000 miles and recently there is a slight knock when you release the clutch pedal, the gearchange to be honest is no more notchy than usual but being 11 years old I am guessing the clutch is not going to last for ever.

It does not get raced so would only need a standard replacement, I am soon to be looking at a rather large bill??

As always any help greatly appreciated.

They are expensive to do as the flywheel is a dual mass unit and it is extremely advisable to change it. The complete assembly can be bought from an LUK or Sachs supplier for about £350 and then you are looking at five hours labour to fit it so around £600 upwards.

what happens if you do not change the dual fly mass wheel?? I just changed the clutch a year ago for 150 for the clutch and 130 for the labour.same car and engine and year

The 220mm DM flywheels are very prone to failure as they are too small for the task, especially if the car is modified or driven hard.

Evening Guys,

Thanks for the heads up on this, seems a bit better the last few days but am suprised by the costs involved. Think it could be time for a change.
