Hi people,

I was thinking about getting an ipod dock for a while which was quite simple to do, about £100 from halfords.....

But lately I have been using Spotify on My nokia phone, this has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

How can i play this through my standard stereo headunit?

Someone said to look for one which go's through your cd changer input on the back of your stereo, but i cant seem to find that anywhere on the net.

Can anyone help or suggest other options?

Thanks

Alistair

I wouldnt get one from halfords, it will just be over priced.

Ive got an X car link ipod adaptor, and its brilliant, its got a ipod connectoe and also a 3.5mm headphone jack aswell, although i have the headphone jack hidden. I ran the cable from behind the stereo under the centre console to the centre arm rest - works very well! - This works through the CD changer port.

FYI theres a group buy at the moment for one slightly better than mine - ill find the link.

are you going to try and stream this 3g to the phone and then through the sterio - if so 3g comes and goes as you drive so you might have a problem doing this - its same with internet radio - you lose the 3g signal, run out of buffered content and then have to wait for a fresh 3g patch)

on a diff note, does your phone not have an fm transmitter? my n97 has a great one built in?

With Spotify you get to save offline playlists also, so phone signal wont be any trouble. All I am looking to do is play an auxilary unit through my stereo by wire.

DBSK thanks for your help, I wasn't planning on spending that much, I'm not too fussed about playing the track names on the headunit, I was literally hoping I could find an aux wire that would have a 3.5mm jack at one end and go in to my stereo at the other.

I thought there would be some knocking around on ebay, I dont think i'm searching for the right things, or there is literally not a wire that will do what I want (although I'm sure there is somehere).

get an fm transmitter for your phone - it has a 3.5mm jack plug that plugs into your phone or ipd etc, cost about £5, you tune the fm transmitter into an unused frequency say 100HZ FM, then tune the car radio into the same frequency - there ya go, cheap and easy solution
