£350 for cam belt belt and water pump, they also price matched and are doing me a long life service for £150.
I Have used them before and they have always done a top notch job.

Great. They seem very reasonable on price.
Does anyone have any ideas of any vw dealers around the midlands/derbyshire area?
Rappy.

I'm getting this done soon, and it is £465 for the cambelt alone (VW Gatwick).
I thought this was steep, checked with another garage, £462 :(
VW are supposed to price match are they not ? so going to try another couple of garages... does it always have to be a written quote as they state ?!
Think they have to be within 5 miles too, which is a bit restrictive.
Unwanted cost, as though it's either 80k miles OR 4 years, mines only covered 28K in 4 years - bet the belt is still pristine :D

the vw garage mine is booked in to have price matched with my local garage for the service, then dropped another £30 by saying they would do the service for £150

Some average prices there for VW dealerships.
Just to let you know, a cambelt kit with all bits and bats, plus a water pump can be purchased for around £120.00, and it takes around an hour or so to do.

Perhaps a cautionary tale for those considering getting their cambelt changed at an independent - the mechanic cocked up, and then got someone to torch the car to hide the damage, but it all went a bit pear-shaped:
