Q7 DVD Navigation Issue?

Hi All,

I bought a DVD Navigation module from Ebay UK, thinking it will work as a normal install.

I have this message "Please check navigation DVD" when I inserted a Australian 2007 navigation DVD.

As I dont have access to a VAG COM, went to Audi dealer, has checked, confirmed there is no errors (as advised by the Audi Tech).

Will the firmware be different for australia to europe?
Also if the DVD is older than the firmware version, will this cause the error message?

I have also tested a 2007 Euporean DVD, same message.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I had a few problems with a German MMI DVD NAV unit that I fitted to an A6 Allroad recently.

Hi Craig,

Thank you for the information.
I have gone through your posts and notice that you atleast had one GPS on. in my case it doesnt even detect the dvd, just comes up with " Please check navigation DVD".
I have ordered the VAG-COM cable, will have to wait for it to be delivered before I can start looking at the faults and coding.

Will let you know how I go.

Hi Barry,

did the seller indicate that the unit itself was operational ? The reason I ask is that I understand that the laser mech in these units has a finite life.

Hi Craig,

Yes, I was told that the unit is in working condition. Also as checked by Audi Centre, there were no errors, but not sure of they know much about retrofitting and coding, so wont trust them.

Barry you could try, "Used hidden menu to set "ignore region/VMC". It's done via MMI controls and doesn't require a Vagcom cable.

Perhaps it's "looking for" a European map dvd.

Cannot get to the hidden menu, seems to be disabled.
I also tried the Eurpoean DVD just in case, but same message. So am sailing blind until I get the cable.
I ve also contacted Alister, who is active on OZAudi Forums, has offered to help me out. So will keep you posted on what's happening once I get access to a VagCom cable.

Hi all,
I have managed to resolve the issue, turned out to be a mechanical problem. The laser had dislodged from the tracks and was not moving as it should.
Its now back to the correct position and the unit reads the DVD fine.

Any Ideas?

i realise the hw version of the dvd drive is wierd compared to all the others i have search on the internet and also the component section. also there is no revision or serial number. Could it be corrupt? If so is there any way to reflash it?
