I know this has been asked before - but there does not appear to be a clear answer.

The silver loop at the top of my key has gone walkabout (I think it is in Tesco's car park!). It is the loop that connects to the top of the emergency key that pulls out.

So far as I can tell, the only way to get a replacement of this is to buy a new emergency key - which costs £50+ !

I have decided to buy an entire spare key on ebay (most go for about £15+, which I suspect is because they cannot be programmed to work with the car unless they match the numbers etc etc)

Does anyone have any experience, or any ideas of how to get one cheaper?

Cheers

Have a look at post #4 here - http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=87125&highlight=Key+fob

seems the cheapest way to go.

Thanks. I have lost the shiney bit though...

Yes, I thought that was the bit that the paper clip was used to replace.

Would you actually be able to use the shiney bit from another key if you bought one? I'm wondering how easy it would be to fit.

I would use either fishing line or fishing trace wire and finish it with a nice crimp.... look pretty cool i reckon for a couple of quid.
