"brake" warning on start up

HI,

I have recently bought a 2003 A4 Avant.

Twice recently I have had the word "brakes" displayed on starting the engine but no brake symbol and no further warnings or indications. I can't find anything in the manual about this at all. Can anybody help?

I think the link a8 provided says it all.

On my B7 3.0 TDI - My Audi dealership fitted an extra circuit to my car under warranty - it contains a relay that disconnects the sensor circuit temporarily as the engine is started. Problem never returned, happy days.

mine does thsi, but only when its been stood for a week or two (holidays) anyway now i know why, cheers A8
