Anyone know how to fit the storage boxes under the drivers and passengers front seats? Do you have to have a special seat?

No, they fit the standard seats. It's a simple job. Just unbolt the seat, tilt it to the back and you can attach the trays to the bottom of the seat.

Spoke to the dealer about this and they said it can't be retro-fitted. Something about the base is different and is a factory-fit option. Are they talking b******s?

Most dealers do not know about retro-fitting....

Thanks Turbokiisseli... You seem to know a lot, did you do this mod? Do by any chance have the part numbers?

When you say unbolt the seat, do you mean unbolt the runners themselves??

I did it on mine so its totally possible. They werent available as complete units so you need to build one from all the separate parts, there are 4 or 5 bits needed for each side. Its all on ETKA.

Hi Issac. Whats ETKA?

ETKA is the VAG group parts catalogue. All dealers have it.

OKey doke.

So basically get the dealer to orer all the bits, and put them together when they arrive? fixing it to the seat wasnt too tricky? What are they held on with? Self tappers?

Did this for a friend. He ordered these as a set from VAGParts when they were still in business.

The boxes come with brackets that attach to the seat frame. It's all very simple and only requires you to unbolt the 4 seat attachment bolts, which can be found under the plastic trim covering the seat rails. Then tilt the seat back or take it out of the car and bolt the storage boxes on.

I still need to find a set for mine, but these are rather ridiculously expensive from th dealer.

Does anyone actually use these seat boxes? They're too small for CDs and just big enough for cassettes, but who uses those anymore? They don't lock so I won't put a GPS or cash in there. I found I could barely stuff a hi-vi vest in for France and now just don't bother.

Mark.

Can they be fitted to power seats, unsure but I think my ones are sports seats and can get quite low, unsure if thats why I dont have them, but according to the Audi dealer I should have one fitted to the passenger seat :(

They are handy for an in-car charger, also they are part of the storage pack....
