concert radio display

My Audi Concert player has 50% of the LED not lite up through the centre of the screen. Showing just a slight band of lite LEDs above and below the non lite LEDs. I want to connect up a parrot bluetooth device but I am unsure if it'll require the safe key code to be input to get it functional again? and if so is there a way of putting the code in when you cant see what the screen is saying?

Has anyone had this problem and can it be fixed?
Or will it need to be a new HU

Remove the ignition key and make sure the radio is off.
Remove the radio and remove the mulit plug connection for at least 5 minuets then reconnect and switch the ignition on
I can't guarantee the code will not be lost
