Hi,, We have had our VW Passat since May 2007,, its a 2 litre TDI SE saloon,, we have done 54k in it since new. It has had new alloys fitted under warrenty due to corrosion also the passanger door handle stopped opening the door(outside only) this was also fixed under warrenty,, great service from VW, Shrewsbury & Taunton.
Now I am starting to hear a funny noise from the steering but only when its on full lock & turning,, any ideas. (had new tyres fitted) Also noticed fuel economy seems lower,, would the cold weather affect this? Dirty air filter? or both? or anything else,, struggling to get low 40's per gallon,.

Happy new year to all.:beerchug:

What does the noise sound like? Could be a power steering pump if its happening on full lock.

Also low 40's seems quite reasonable at this time of year as the cold weather affects economy.... car takes longer to hear up etc.

I had a grinding noise from new when turning on tight lock. In my case it was a distorted inner wheel arch lining which was contacting the inner rim of the tyre on lock. It's worth a look!
