hi, thats a thought... i will check that. Do you know which column block the heated windscreen wire belongs to behind the climate control unit?

cheers

checked all the connections behind the climate control. No Luck. I will try the old climate control unit to rule out the wiring maybe.

just tried the old climate control unit and the rear heated windscreen works. So that rules out the wiring. Could it be the climate control unit?

I was about to ask if you had changed the climate unit due to wearing buttons/heated switches needed and you've answered it!

It is the wiring I'm afraid (or lack of it) Nov 2004 and on units don't have the relay for the rear window in them, the design was changed for some reason. You need to wire a relay in behind it. I have the guide (from another forum member), if you PM me your e-mail address I can send the guide to you. (Can't upload here as the file's too big!

PM me your e-mail address and I can e-mail you the instructions. If you find them too difficult (I had to get a mate to help me!) then take them to an independent garage and they should be able to do something with them!

If you follow the tutorial in the word document that Ben sends you, it should be pretty straight forward. I just brushed up my knowledge on how relays work prior to the install. Let me know if you need any help.

Thanks mate. Took me a while to figure them out but they made sense in the end. However was reading some other posts on here and found one that says you can just swap the face plates over and hey presto.
But thanks again for taking the time to send through!

Is there any chance you could give a clue on how to fit this relay please to enable the rear heated window to work. Cheers.

I didn't do mine I'm afraid, a friend (with some auto-electrical knowledge!) did it for me!

Hi Benjie, I have what seems to be the same problem: A4, 52 plate, 130bhp 1.9 Tdi Avant. Indicator light for hrw comes on when you press the button but goes off again. Told by my garage 'twas in the CC unit!

I would be very grateful to see the guide, please. Is there room behind the CC unit to put in the relay? My email is: chris@hand-n-head.freeserve.co.uk

Thanks very much.

I’m now having the same issue , to save any work, can you just find a
CC unit with the heated seat option pre 2004 from another b6 and just swop that over with your original? Will that work too? I’m rubbish with electrics and if I can just swop over a unit instead I’m game 🤞🏻

Straight swop like
