im looking to fit the OEM sports supension to my B5, unfortunately my Tdi SE didnt have it fitted originally but i want it along with some 17/18" RS4 alloys.

does it matter which car it came off? of as im guessing the 1.9td lump will be heavier than the 1.8t so it will sit lower on the 1.8t sports suspension (hence maybe the 17's not 18's). I have heard that the \quattro sports suspension is different to the 2wd variants, and that i could also just fit smaller springs to achieve my desired ride height. does that sound correct?

I want the original sports ride height and nothing lower as i dont like the slammed look. Also im looking to buy second hand as they do appear on ebay from time to time so if anyone can advise what sort i need it would be greatly appreciated :)

cheers.

To fit oem you need to consider vehicle weight for the springs so its best to go after market bilstein or eibach

ok thanks but my dad has the same vehicle with a retro fitted standard sports suspension and it looks and handles great, only we dont know who fitted it and what it came off of (quattro or 2wd). (true i can lookat his part numbers and try andget the same but wonder how many variations there are and what i can/can't fit)

Im not looking to spend lots i just want to lose the tractor look of the car! if anyone can enlighten me i would really appreciate it.

I would like to know this also as I would like the sport set up on my TDi, My last one I bought a new set of standard gas shocks and a set of 35mm lowering springs from GSF parts. it looked great, went around corners great but was useless on the rough roads around my way. Much too hard ride and a very short bounce which I got sick of in the end. Thats why I want the OEM sport set up as I am asuming it uses shorter shocks and slightly stiffer springs and the ride should still be comfertable. :approve:

I put a full Koni STRT non adjustable kit on my A4 B5 1.9 tdi avant last year . In the past I've had all sorts of VW's with various types of suspension mods from Bilstein gas shocks and Eibach springs on my Corrado to Sciroccos with Coilovers etc and we also we have a B6 avant TDI with the standard sports model suspension.
The KONI kit is similar drop to the OE sports kit (35mm) but performs much better, no crashing about on even unmade farm tracks ,excellent handling and very good ride quality . I combined mine with new genuine Audi sports bump stops and it has transformed the car. It was also a lot cheaper than buying originals from Audi.

use http://www.vagcat.com/ to determine parts and take note the springs are the differance but as above the best option is after market

well how much would that sort of setup cost?

im not gona lie i dont get much chance to drive my car with a bit of venom (police and speed cameras everywhere in plymouth!) so it is more for the asthetic appeal and the handling is just a nice bonus.

I have agreed to buy a second hand OEM sports suspension for £90 all round, shocks and springs. unless it can come close to i think im gona go for the deal. thanks for the advice tho :)
