Hello Folks,
I decided to have sports springs fitted on my 55 reg 2.0 tdi A4 Avant, a friend of mine has a little garage business and he offered to fit all springs for 50 quid, however he had trouble getting a 6mm bolt out of the main strut/hub and ended up elongating the hole, Audi want 242 quid plus vat ouch!! does anyone know where i can get my hands on a drivers side front strut/hub (main cast) for my B7 as my missus will kill me as i sneaked 200 quid out of our account and she will definately notice another 250 quid or so missing! please help before she finds out and kills me.

Is there no chance you could hellicoil it?
how big is the elongation(sp?)?

Hello Ukdan, I'm not sure how bad he's knackered it, i will ask him and see if he can hellicoil it, i will consider every option.

Thanks Mate

PS i hope he knows what hellicoil is because i've never heard of it

I'm dead, she's asking why i haven't fetched my car yet!

hellicoil is a thread repair tool.
With the kit you re-tap to a larger size, then insert a coil which closes down the thread size to the original thread size.
You also can get a solid insert from a company called wurth, the product is called timesert.

I love Audi's, previously had a 2.0 T saloon, 2.4 52 reg sport cab, i did consider having a S4 cab 04 plate for 16K but when i did the maths on running costs i realised i was dreaming.

Been driving honda's for the last 10 years.
Needed a change so 4 weeks ago i picked up a 2005 2.0tdi s-line.
Absolutly love it.

Mine is a SE its got speed control, reversing sensors. I put 18" RS4 replicas on it looked loads better but parking next to my mates S line you can see how much lower they are, hence all the bloody mess i'm in now
