I had the same problem recently.I got a cheapo fault code reader which indicated a fault on No 3 glow plug circuit. After replacing the faulty glow plug and erasing the fault I havn't had the emmission light on since.
Happy days

Hi troops.
Update. I was very worried about the light and the car had just had the low fuel light come on so I drove it to bp. When I started the car to go to the garage the light was out. Filled it up with bp ultimate and it seems fine. Neighbour works for the AA and said it could need a new coil pack (£30). He said if the light come on again he will check the coil?!?!
El Guapo. It was the emission control light. All it said about the light was if it's on, get to an approved audi dealer. Looking on the next if it's flashing it's really bad.
Mine wasn't flashing but it was juddering. My neighbour said the juddering was caused by the car miss fireing. Commonly caused by audi coil failure.
Now the light has gone out il wait until it happens again
Thanks

Hi guys, which glow plug is the right one for my car?...A4 2.0 tdi 140bhp, BRE engine 06 Reg s-line. Is it Bosch, Beru or NGK? Do you have to use same glow plugs as the original ones? Which one is the right one for my engine? The previous owner told me they were changed before and could not remember the original one. Please help. Thanks

Hi there,
Do you have to change all the glow plugs or just one of them,I would think it unusual for all glow plugs to be gone.As the glow plugs are a reasonably cheap item I would go to main dealer and get the OE glow plug(s).

Hi Peter 135,
Emission control light came on when i was in Germany about 3 months ago. I went to main dealer there and it was diagnosed to be number 3 glow plug. They didn't have one in stock so i drove back here(as i was leaving same day) and changed it. About 2 weeks afterwards, the light came on again....this time, glow plug number 2 and 4. So i called previous owner who told me he changed all 4 sometime ago and that it was likely the mechanic (non-audi) used inferior ones. So i decided to change all 4 for the peace of mind.
Thanks anyway Peter...i'll go the main dealer to find out. Cheers.
