I have managed to source some Skoda Superb 16" steel wheels and I intend to have some winter tyres fitted to them.
The guy at the garage assured me that I would be OK fitting them, I currently have 18" alloys, apart from it potentially looking pants should it be OK?
My worst fears have been realised today, we have around 2" of snow and I was slipping and sliding up the street tonight, no control at all and I fear for a severe change in the weather. I have a front wheel drive automatic and have turned off the ESP and knocked in to manual, still terrible.

Steel wheels didn't fit, looking at some 18" different profile snow tyres.
Couldn't get out of one end of the street today, the other end I went down the hill and straight on to the middle of the main road, nothing coming luckily.
Ringing an Audi dealer on Monday, looking very doubtful that they actually make any 16" steel wheels to fit my car.

Keep us updated because I have the exact same problem.

Was told by the dealer that no steel wheels existed for my car, at least not without lots of trial and error, no wheels are specifically made for a B8.
Option 1 by a set of 4 alloys c/w winter tyres (didn't check the size, but assuming 16") cost was £1,000
Option 2 fitted 4 Nr Avon Ice Tourer ST Tyres - 225/40 R18's cost me £550 for 4.
I went for option 2 and the difference is unbelievable, managed to in and out of my street with no problems at all.
Hoping to get 2 winters out of the tyres and offset against the wear on my summer tyres, still a costly option but worth it in my opinion.
