Hi,
I have an A8 1999 (V) 2.8 sport. A while ago the central locking pump in the boot would over run for about 30 seconds, after two days it stopped working completely. When unlocking/locking the car with the remote fob the immobiliser still works but the central locking does not operate. I have exposed the central locking pump in the boot area and upon pressing the lock/unlock button on the key fob the pump does appear to run (for roughly 30 seconds) but nothing happens. Can someone tell me what the problem may be and how I can resolve it?

Thanks in anticipation

Neil

Hi there i had the same fault on my A8 4.2 quattro sport 2000 w. It turned out to be the ceramic parts of the pump itself (the parts that make the pressure) If you take the pump apart (its quite easy) you will see they are all broken like mine was. You can get these repaired but for the cost of it you might as well get a new unit from audi. And have that assurance from audi that it wont break but if it dose it will be under warranty. If i remember i think it was about £250.

If you look on ebay you might be lucky to find one BUT BE CAREFULL you must have the correct one with the same numbers as whats fitted to your car if not it might not work correctly or not at all..

Hope this helps good luck.

Hi Steve,
How did you get on with this boot problem. My '98 A8 2.8 has the same problem and I have to use the key in the lock to open the boot (Old skool huh). With the boot open and the cover behind the lock (not the latch) off if I operate the fob to open or close the pump wooshes an hisses but struggles to operate the control arm which comes across from the middle of the boot lid by the latch. It sounds like a pipe is detached or leaking or something. It's been doing this for a while. Then tonight I had difficulty closing the boot lid and when I finally managed to shut it, the left side looked slightly ajar and the right side l.ooked very very shut. Is there a mechanism behind the CD changer?? There seems to be a motor overrunning there too for 30 secs to a minute.

regards
Mark
