Engine Code

Could someone please tell me what my engine code is? I have an audi a3 1.8T quattro, its a 2001 (x reg). I have a feeling that my timing belt has snapped and that i would be better off buying an engine, due to all of the parts racking up such a huge cost?

theres a choice of several that it could be. try this. open your boot, lift the carpet and there should be a label with all the codes on it near the spare wheel.

Could be AUQ or ARY, provably AUQ. I would suggest rebuilding the head rather than exchanging the whole engine, changing one of those engines is a huge task. PM me your reg and I will tell you the engine code.
