I hope someone can help - A4 2004 (03 reg) the symphony 11 has jammed cd's and although the radio and tape works the CD play is kaputt quoting error code 3. Audi want £275 for a replacement unit not fitted. They refuse to tell me the part number as it's their policy not to divulge such information. I appreciate this could present alternative options to customers; but I run two Audi's and am a long term Audi customer. They are very quick to push for servicing etc and cold call me but they refuse to 'help' their customers out when the product is only 5 years old and it stops working - I have a technics system that is 20 years old and is still excellent - sorry just a little rant. Can anyone help with the part number and then I will be able to make a more informed decision so to wether I will go back to them or look for altenative solutions.
Thanks DSC

Have you cut power to the stereo, either take out or undo battery.

They sometimes spit the cd out if you hit eject straight away, when you put the power back on (make sure you have the security number)

If all else fails can you not take the top of the cd player off and remove manually

better than paying £275, you can get a Audi satnav for not much more second hand with SD card slots, so no more cd problems

Thanks guys - I have taken out the fuse and tried the eject button etc no joy - will try the battery tomorrow. You may well be correct re the sat nav option. They are on ebay, I was thinking more of a straight swop no wiring issues, though I don't know enough about these things maybe the sat nav is a direct connect job.
Thanks for the part number it may narrow down what's on offer. If anyone on the forum has the right symphony 2 I may well be interested. Bad time of the year to shell out to Audi, and I am getting it in the ear from the wife as it's her car.
Update I have found some on flea bay but they have a AB or H after the number Kite supplied. Our A4 has a Bose system does this make a difference?
Thanks

i would remove the unit and take it apart to see if you can release the disc's before buying another. You may have to code a replacement unit for BOSE I'm not sure.

Can you not get it out of the dash and remove cd by taking the stereo apart ??

Can't be that hard

Hm, this part number is a little confusing. I believe you need a revision letter to define which radio is yours. If you can pull your radio and get me the exact part number, it looks like I can get one in the range of 145 - 200 USD. At least that is significantly cheaper than Audi. Let me know, I'm happy to order one up, we just need to be sure it is the right one.

Same thing happened to my old Audio Symphony CD player in a B5 chassis A4. Ended up having to take it apart to remove the CD and then flogged it on eBay as faulty for 60 quid. Replaced with an Alpine that had red illumination so it matched the dashboard. Total cost was around £180 including a new wiring loom.

And just to clarify, you are talking about a Symphony II, not a Symphony I correct?

Yes that is correct a symphony 2. Looks like a few options I am buying some 'keys' to take the stereo out this weekend to check the details on the back. Thanks to all. I noticed a few on ebay so may try my luck there.
