2.0 tdi irratic power

Had issues for some time with this
Started with a slight grating sound and lots of smoke when accelerating with severe power being unleashed

played with all the vacuum pipes and checked the MAF sensor, if you disconnect this all seems well (back to normal) apart from the engine management light on, cleaned this with carb cleaner (just the same)

However broke down last week, got towed home and had a look at the EGR valve, the valve inside the EGR was broken off, took it off and got a new one from Audi for £220 still the same !!!:zx11:

I have now made a crude blanking plate to blank the exhaust gasses from entering the inlet manifold, again this seems to get me going and the car can now drive

Any ideas any one

did you replace the MAF?
I cleaned mine and it fixed it
but this only worked for a short
time so I ordered a new one from
the VW dealer for £77

No I haven't yet
Once I found the damaged EGR valve thought that was that
I will order a MAF now and see how that goes

Have to say when I disconnected it the other week all was well, until the EGR went down, the valve attached to the rod had come off and was rattling around

I have tried the MAF connected and disconnected with the new EGR but the car wont drive, loads of white smoke

Blank the pipe from the EGR cooler to the inlet manifold off and it runs sweet again, best it has

I will keep trying
