Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help shed some light on some fault codes I have? The problem I'm trying to resolve is the intermittant performance that my car seems to suffer, pulling fine with good fuel economy some days, and driving like a tractor other (most) days, whilst struggling to get 40mpg!

The codes I got with my shareware version of vagcom are:

5 Faults Found:
01117 - Generator Terminal DF Load Signal
27-00 - Implausible Signal
17958 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P1550 - 08-10 - Please Register/Activate – Intermittent
17978 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P1570 - 35-00 - Please Register/Activate
16989 - Internal Control Module: ROM Error
P0605 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17552 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P1144 - 35-00 - Please Register/Activate

Doubtless theres probably more in there than I want to see, but if anyone can make any sense of them it'd be much appreciated:Blush:.

From another post;

The car is a Golf GT TDI PD115 manufactured in 2000.

The more info supplied, the easier it is to assist ;)

Thanks guys, much appreciated as always. Seems like a smorgasbord of errors there. Does anyone know where I can purchase an N75 valve? Just tried eurocarparts and apparently they don't stock them. As for the control unit, could that be fixed with a remap (forgive me, I'm very much a novice with this type of stuff).

The N75 isn’t necessarily faulty, the system needs testing first but you cannot do that with shareware VAG-COM. If the faulty ECU code will not clear I imagine it is dead. I had a check sum error on my 1.8T ECU which I was able to remap away but I don’t think you can clear that code, you need to locate and have coded in a good used ECU so get the number and start looking. You cannot match in a new ECU even using a registered version of VAG-COM unless you have the security PIN code. I suggest you send the ECU to BBA Reman for testing and possible repair, they are very good people.

Thanks for that crasher, I'll look into them.

Ok I think I've found the module part number, 038 906 019 AM, does that sound right? Are there any alternatives, because checking fleabay doesn't bring up any results for me. After consulting the haynes manual (to find out where it is!), it states that the ECU isn't plug and play, and needs coding in even if just removing it. Is there anyone on the forum who provides this service? (Im in the Manchester area)

038 906 019 AM changed to 038 906 019 CJ and both are AJM ECU’s, you can use either in theory according to ETKA, in fact if you bought a new one from VW you would get the CJ. Yes it must be coded in, any VW dealer can do this for a reasonable fee plus some specialists also have the capability.

Cheers again Crasher. Funnily enough I found a couple of ecus with that number after reading your post. I'll try clearing the code tomorrow, and take it from there:beerchug:
