Hi,
I'm considering upgrading my 90 quattro after 12+ years of ownership and would like to buy another Audi. One of the options would be an A8 (3.0 Tdi around 2004/2005 vintage)..

What is the experience of used A8's ? How reliable are they ?

Can they be diagnosed / repaired by an enthusiastic amateur or do they really require VAG servicing / repair ?

Appreciate any comments on common faults / how easy to diagnose / repair etc..

Many thanks,

Bob

A8 is not a diy car, trust me

A8 Tech is quite right, diy on an A8 should only be topping up fluids - everything else needs an understanding of electronics + computers as opposed to a basic grasp of motor mechanics.
