rear running lights

Hey, I was wondering if anyone else has had any issues with the tail lights not working. Ive had them keep cutting out on me during the night which also cuts the instrument panel lights. I think it might be a relay but am wondering if anyone has any other ideas. Thanks!

If you mean the instrument cluster illumination, at the same time as tail lights, I am thinking headlight switch. You can push it in while you turn to the first position and then you can withdraw it from the dash to check the rear, or swap it for someone else's.

No relays. It's usually the light switch as snapdragon says.

so if it is the light switch do the wires need to be replaced or just the front knob that turns? that doesnt quite make sense though because the illumination of the climate control never goes away like the instrument cluster illumination does

Wires are usually ok. Switch has multiple contacts so one section can be fine whilst another doesn't work. You replace the whole switch. The wires plug onto it.
