Hi, i filled my washer bottle up today and i noticed that when using the windscreen washer, there was no pressure and the water was just trickling out. within about 5 mins the bottle was empty again. so when i opened up the bonnet to have a look, water was running out from the inside of the actual bonnet lid. i assume that there is a split pipe inside the bonnet. I am wondering how to get at the pipe to have a look at it?

It may well have come off the jet. Try pulling pipe to see.

there is water coming out of both jets but not a lot- will try and have a good look tomorrow- do the jets just pull off?

Rather strange that the bottle should empty though. Water doesn't normally flow uphill or syphon at a higher level.

Fill the bottle and check under the car to see where it is dripping from.

Any chance the pipes froze in several places or is there always screen anti-freeze, up to strength, in the system ?

It had froze i think as there was no antifreeze in it. i have to get a good look at it over the next few days. i am assuming that the pipe has split or partly come off the jets, inside the bonnet, when i tried to use it when it was froze

Had SAME problems, one my washer jet pipes had come undone,
the front washers work OK & at full pressure but it still leaks out of bonnet & drains the full tank in a few squirts !

:1zhelp:
Has anyone upgraded their screen wash piping ?
i.e. Can the pipework be replaced with insulated pipe or one with trace heating in ?

Also gotta sort out my non working rear washer too...

That was the same with mine... got it sorted but forgot to update on here. it keeps happening if the water has frozen and i try and use the washer jets. Both connections in the bonnet have came out several times.

I seem to have a similar issue with the Rear washer... If I just use the fronts, the Washer fluid lasts for months... but, since the first freeze berfore christmas, If I use the rear washer, the bottle empties very quickly, and I get no rear wash.

I have checked for signs of leakage - should be easy, the screenwash is at 100% and is bright green!), but cannot see any fluid leaking

Any suggestions about where to look?

Thanks
Andrew

DieselBundy,
Many thanks... that is exactly where the pipe had disconnected!

Next question... what is the best way of draining out all the washer fluid that is now filling my rear inner wing area?

Thanks again

Andrew

you can try and look under the rear quater and see if there is a drain plug but i dont think so if not drill a small hole :approve:

I syphoned out nearly 3/4 Litre of Screenwash out of the inner wing last night, and then stuffed it full of kitchen roll, which I'll remove today. Hopefully, that will soak up any that I couldn't syphon!

Many thanks for your help

Andrew
