Hard brake pedal

Hi everyone
I have a 2001 passat 2.0 approx 110,000 miles When the weather gets cold the brake pedal sometimes goes hard as if there is a problem with the servo ,Is this common Do VW have any recalls?

There may be water in the brake servo,or there could be a fault with the non-return valve

Yup, servo full of water and it is bloody scary when you find the water is frozen sold first thing in the morning…

I think asking about a recall on a car that is approaching its ninth birthday is pushing it a bit, well a lot.

As a matter of fact the plenum chamber recall is still active,if the vehicle has not had it done.

Is the consequential loss provision still in place?

Regarding the recall i don't think so,will check it tomorrow,There again if the recall has been done and the vehicles service history,is up to date,cleaning the plenum chamber is part of the service,and if that has not been done then the responsibility for anything that may be damaged due to a blocked plenum chamber,is with the dealer who carried out the service

The VW way is a good poke from below :D but some you can only get at the left one and the one under the servo only from above.
