Hi all...
Just trying to gauge the real life fuel economy of the 3.0TDI V6
I'm after figures for
1. Town driving
2. Mixed A & B roads
3. Motorway driving
Thanks in advance

Hi.Mixed commute minor roads, A road (slow)and town 33mpg.Did Henley on Thames to York yesterday mainly M1 at 80plus (except the roadwork 50mph bits) and got 42mpg. Excellent results for a big six diesel that really shifts
3.0TDI S Tronic, Similar to Robtt09. 32mpg on a 25 mile drive heavy traffic out of central London 8 mls +17 mls fast A road. Better in early in the morning with no traffic 36 with avg foot. Highway 38-40.
Pretty good given the torque and speed one can achieve...Fantastic engine, very smooth. Was contemplating 2.0TFSI, 3.0TDI was fair bit of money more but worth it.

I have same car and it averages about 40 MPG. I haven't reset the computer 2 since the car was new and it shows an overall average for the 3000 miles I've done of 40.9 MPG. So for a big 3.0L engine I think s its really good, just a shame the price of Diesal keeps going up

Averaged 36.8mpg over 14k miles since new - true, not what the computer says.
Lowest 32.7, highest 41.8 (34.4 / 44.1 on the computer).
I find myself grumbling sometimes that it doesn't do as much as I'd hoped on the longer trips, but then remember that my 2.4l petrol Volvo V50 would struggle to get over 30, and it was nowhere near as quick as this. IMHO go for it - you won't regret it!

Seeing similar to above
Commute to work, B-Road, A-Road, Dual Carriage Way, Slow Crawl into town 33 to 35 mpg
Motorway cruising at, erm, motorway speeds :p 41 to 44 mpg
Much better than my old 2.5 TDI

Have to agree with the above my old A4 3.0TDI Sline (B8) did about the same as the above
P.S. c7trp love the alloys 20 spoke look great but a bugger to clean!!!

3.0TDI S-Line.
It averages around 35-38mpg.

Very happy.

A question, do you guys rely on the DIS mpg or are you actually reporting the miles driven / gallons used, as calculated after filling up?
For me, the DIS displayed fuel consumption is about 20% optimistic when compared to the actuals over about 1500 miles.

Hi, I'm using miles driven and gallons used calculated after filling up every week.

20% is a hell of a lot - Over 5 tank fills I averaged about 5.5% - have now had it adjusted at the dealer so the DIS is pretty much accurate.
Two of the fills were straight between petrol stations without stopping - don't know if the lack of starting and stopping would make a difference to the accuracy?
By the way - I have yet to see/hear a DIS that isn't optimistic - suspicious me thinks....

My DIS (albeit on a petrol) says I've averaged 25.9 when it's really 23.1 = 12% over reading.
I think if it continues like this then I'll have to use VCDS to change the DIS so it's more accurate.

I may well end up doing the same thing - I'm waiting for a larger sample size over the next few tankfuls.

I always use tank to tank refill to calculate mpg. But,interestingly my last (long) journey gave 43mpg on tank to tank refill against 42mpg on DIS. So my DIS is accurate on longer journeys me thinks
Ok my car is pretty bad.
I am seeing 10 l/100km (28mpg) average 70% motorway 30% country roads and that's the onboard which everyone says is optimistic! I am sticking to the speed limits too.. so that's not faster than 130kph (auto-route) except for overtaking.
I can not get it to do more than 34mpg and that's at at 50mph just feathering the throttle.
Audi just serviced it for 950 euros!! oil change and glow plugs. and they say it's fine.
All this added to my acceleration in Sport that is slower than my 10 year old subaru 2.5 petrol.. Acceleration in Drive is better.. Audi said it was better after re-setting gearbox software. It was not.
ciao

I have found DIS accurate to about 5% . Off to wedding tomorrow 10 miles from Cockermouth travelling from near York so going to be interesting journey with snow and on top that the hotel has just e mailed all guests to say to remember only one bridge open north of Keswick ! Will let you know fuel consumption on Monday .Might be interesting if we get stuck on A66 between Scotch Corner and Penrith
Off topic.... In snow I have no complaints re- traction.. Maybe not quite as easy to drive as the subaru in snow, but definitely pretty good.
I have yet to change to snow tyres (probably do so this weekend) but it seems Ok with the normal tyres... 235x 45 17s :-| not usually best in snow.
I live 3000ft up the Alps so the winter tyres are a must
