very frustrating i have purchased a JVC KW XG 701 and all the adaptor cables to fit it in place of the symphny II unit i had that has gone pop.
i HAVE THE A4 convertable 2004 2,5 tdi.

two issues i have are:

the radio will not tune although i did manage to get a faint channel by manual tuning.

The only speakers that work are the dash speakers.

i have fitted the areial 90 degree adaptor to straight one to fi the JVC unit. i have also purchased the remote adaptor for the steering wheel controls.

the unit is brand new and plays cd's (just through the dash speakers).

when i switch the jvc on i can hear a faint intermittant poping noise which i have heard before through speakers but cant remember why.

Tthe back of the JVC has DIN speaker outlets for front and rear speakers i have plugged these in but makes no difference with them in or out.

there is a BNC type socket in the A4 wiring harness that was plugged nto the back of the symphony but there is no connection for this with the new unit or the adaptor harness i have purchased.

any ideas would be a great help.

I assume no one has any ideas, however i have discovered more that may help some other poor individual i the future trying to do the same thing. in my last thread i could only get the dash speakers to work. it turns out all the other speakers and arerial require power but not the two dash speakers hence only the dash ones gave sound. Having taken advice from the suppliers of the adaptor cable i needed to cut a blue and white wire comng from the JVC plug and connect to a loose blue wire from the adaptor cable.
So finally took the plunge and cut the wire and connected it - stil no speakers.
however i still didnt have my aerial booster - the next day i recieved it and tried again. by connecting the powire of the areial connector to the blue/white wire and the blue wire to these two. suddenly i have sound. the bass comes on and he sound is a lot better. i could leave it like this however i am not getting the rear speakers. I believe that this may be an issue with after market units - any ideas?
