Hi...
After getting the car back last time there seemed to be a massive improvement
for the first few days of driving it. But by the end of the week it seemed to me like it was back to normal (faulty IMO). This could of been down to the fact that the clutch's had been reset and then they learn and adjust as your driving. So the car was booked in again after the dealership had contacted Audi (uk) tech support.
Anyway I've just got my car back today (Delivered by a driver) after Grimsby Audi had had it for a few days while a master tech from Audi (uk) was working on it.
As for as I know the master tech was going to load some newly developed software for the S Tronic Mechatronic unit as a trial.
Day 1 was a total disaster as the software that had been loaded didn't work and just gave a gear box full of neutrals. So they kept the car another day.
Day 2 must have had a better result as the S Tronic now changes gear at a different point to before. I've only driven it for a few miles, but IMO it's still the same.
One major change is that it now doesn't change into the next gear until a few hundred revs higher and 7th isn't engaging while about 47 - 53 MPH.
Before general driving 7th gear would engage at 41MPH.
I'll have to wait now until Monday to see what if anything they managed to do to the car. As the manager is off until then.
I would say that if the S Tronic isn't moving up a gear until at a slightly higher rev point and 7th isn't engaged while 47 - 53 MPH that the fuel economy is going to suffer. Either that or it will improve, but only time will tell.
Incidentally when I took the car to Grimsby Audi I managed 28 MPG at a steady 75MPH. When I got in the car today the DIS was reading 26.4MPG over 33.4 miles. So the either the driver has hammered it here or the fuel economy has taken a hit with the what they have done.
As for the TDI loan car I had done 190 miles and put in 23 Ltrs of fuel so thats an average of 37 MPG, so not bad really.
