Hi guys, I am new to the forum and I have just purchased a 99 passat 1.8 SE estate, for the princely sum of 400 quid! But there are a couple of faults on it (as expected for that price). The main annoying faults come from the central locking and alarm, as there is no fob, I have to use the key to open the doors (which in itself is no big deal). The problems arise when I get into the car, unless i get the key into the ignition pretty sharpish, the alarm goes off, resulting in some very upset neighbours :chairshot. The other problem is the rear doors, which do not lock/unlock when using the central locking, but can be opened and unlocked no problem by using the interior handles. I was wondering wether getting a new fob coded was possible, as I only have one key, which doesnt work (the fob bit), and wether it would solve the alarm issues, and also if the central locking issue is related?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :biglaugh:

The short answer is no. Your central locking and alarm problems are most likely to do with a wet CCM.

Search for plenum chamber, is the most annoying issue the Passat has. :zx11:

havent replaced the battery due to it being held together with tape lol, also my bloody door lock broke yesterday, so now i have to get in by holding the key to the 'open' position so my windows roll down then get in that way, feels like im stealing my own car! :)
