5th Gear Grinding

I have a MKV 1.4 FSI which has just developed a crunching sound when changing into and out of 5th gear. Whilst in 5th gear if you decelerate there is a grinding sound. The car has done 37000. Any ideas?:aargh4:

Just to add to this VW Motorworld Oxford have just quoted me £557.92 to replace the synchohub?!?! 37k on the clock, should VW Golfs be falling apart after such low mileage?
