Well it finally happened today, wifey drove the new car........
My biggest worry and I kept banging it home was the fact that it won't go like her ED30 GTI.
I just had this vision of her pulling out of traffic and nailing it thinking it would GO, which it does in 'S', but not like the Golf.
She likes it a lot and it gave me some miles in the passenger seat.
I thought the ride was smooth, roll was minimal and the seats did their job, it is quiet and generally a really nice place to sit and enjoy a journey.
Not concentrating on the road, it did strike me how many looks the car attracts. Having said that it is Lava..........so what did I really expect.
The B7 was never exactly comfortable and there was always road, engine and wind noise.
The B8 certainly addresses those nggles and very well indeed.
There is no doubt there are the niggles and the MMI does get a bashing. But compared to systems I have experienced in Range Rovers and the Nivara I was using before I picked this one up, it is streets ahead and certainly more user friendly.
It certainly looks the biz and I am impressed with AMI, ipod, SD and DVD ply back, again all very user friendly.
My 6 yo son can navigate around the MMI with no problem.
Its also nice to isten to wrossy during the week instead of cramming his show in on a saturday morning.
I love the Multitronic (its a great box and with the options of 'D', 'S' and the manual paddles there is always a relaxed drive or a play if required), it looks great, lights are sexy, interior always gets compliments, light pack lovely, folding mirrors are a nice touch and size wise it fits all my needs.
Overall this is a great car and is certainly IMO a better all rounder than the compition.
(Posted this in the bath on my Blackberry, so apologies for typo's)
Leave you with that thought.............Enjoy
