Hi all,
At present I have a 2006 2.0 ltr TDI (140 bhp) fitted with the BLB engine.I love most aspects of the car ,comfort, power, economy, build quality,it's very hard to fault.I have had the car 6 months now and have put up 6000 miles of trouble free motoring (92000 miles on the odometer). My only concern is the longevity of this particular engine, thus I am thinking of changing for a B8 2.0 ltr TDI (143 bhp) next year. What I would like to know is, are all these cars fitted with the common rail diesel engine and have any problem come to light so far.Perhaps some members out there who have upgraded from a B7 to a B8 could give me their opinions .
Many thanks

Hi Peter,

I was a happy B7 140bhp 2.0TDI S-line owner up until a month ago.
Had the car from new for three and a half years and it wasgood, enjoyable trouble free motoring.

I took delvery last month of a 143PS S-line Multitronic and am very happy indeed.
The B8 is a massive leap forward (not saying the B7 is bad at all) from my B7 in every respect.

The TDI's are all CR now and the lump is great.

There is a huge amount of B8 bashing on here, which may be a result of the car not meeting expectations, but my view is it that the car is a better all rounder compared to the 3 series and C class.

Me.....contrary to my recent (playing the devils advocate and provoking hopefully some nice comments) am a very happy owner.

Do I wish I had gone else where...........not one bit.

Good Luck with the purchase and enjoy

I have used to have a B7 140 and dont regret going for the B8.

There are a few niggles but on the whole it has been a good purchase. I would say I had a lot more mechanical problems with my B7 (mainly clutch and gearbox)

I think the fuel economy is probably slightly worse than the equivilant BMW but Im not too bothered about that.
