Hi all,

I've been looking at getting some new / nearly new alloys for my 1.8T A6. The 15" wheels i have now are badly flaking and look too small for the car in my eyes.

Firstly i bought some as a "Buy Now" off E-Bay from someone calling themselves sam4villas who had a 100% feedback.
Arghhhhhh! avoid avoid avoid :aargh4: :zx11: . Apparently unmarked wheels means x1 re-sprayed badly, x2 with screws in the tyres and the 3 that weren't re-sprayed had more chips than a chippy! Now i'm chasing my money back...: aargh4:

So i called my nearest Audi garage. They quoted an astronomical price for some 16" wheels, then they told me that they didn't advise changing my wheels from the nasty 15" wheels that are flaking really badly to anything larger.... because it would mess up my tracking... :1zhelp: ???????

I didn't understand that. surely i'd just get my tracking re adjusted????

Am i being really thick here? Could someone with a bit more knowledge please help me out please.

Thanks folks!:biglaugh: :beerchug:

i would try to find a tyre and wheel specialist and get them to tell you what is best.

in bristol i use a firm called 'britannia tyres' and they are great!

can't see why changing wheel size should not be done, should be easy!

as for the tracking needing adjusting?? as you said, if it does then just readjust it.

good luck.:biglaugh:

Needing your tracking changed because you change wheels is tosh.

As long as you keep the same overall diameter (ie, plus size the wheel, down size the tyre profile) you'll be fine.

I bought from http://swtyres.co.uk/ with no problems at all.

You will have no problems at all!

15" - 17" is nothing... infact some A6's came with 17's as standard.

i went from 15" - 19" and i havent had any problems what so ever... apart from the cost of tyres!

i still think 17's will be to small.... im even thinking of going to 20" wheels soon... heres mine on 19's....

Hi AJO,

I've just bought some of the same design wheels you've got in the picture only 17".

I decided not to go too big as i'd seen a set of 1week old 20" wheels that had hit a few pot holes on the same stretch of road and they ended up egg shaped! . I'll post a pic up once i've fitted them. :beerchug:

That is the price you pay for big wheels i guess...

one of mine has been welded & straightened after an incident with a pot hole!

all is fine again now though! :)

New wheels arrived Yesterday Fitted them today!

They look great and feel fantastic! I thought the whole ride and handling improvement was a sales pitch but it's actually true!

I bought 17" RS6 style wheels with Pirelli Rosso 225 - 45 - 17 tyres balanced and ready to fit from performance alloys. All in with delivery included cost me £770. The tyres alone come in at £108 each on http://www.blackcircles.com/public/order?view=standard

Great service too!. I dealt with a guy called William and the wheels arrived the following day by DHL.

For anyone that's interested the site is :

No pictures as yet as it's been raining all day.
