Emmisions Workshop

53 plate passat 1.9TDI estate. When I start the engine a warning stating emmisions workshop shows and the engine management light stays on, there is NO loss of power and the light has been going out for weeks at a time, then just when I think it was just a gliche it comes on again. I shall be taking it in for a service but am interested to know what it is and is it going to cost me a fortune.

Could be anything. You need a code read so get one done when it's serviced.

i have a 2001 passat and had the emission light come on for ages- got the codes checked and it was something to do with the oxygen sensor- although when i was about to get it replaced, the light went off and has rarely came on since

Hi chrisop, someone at work said it could be a sensor, as there is no loss of power. Thanks for your help, I'll keep my fingers crossed it isn't anything more than a sensor.
