can anyone with parking sensors tell me if the manual button near the gearlever turns the front and rear sensors on or just the front. Also when rev is selected presumably the front and rears are both activated - what happens if you subsequently press teh manual button ? does it disable the fronts only or front and rear

thanks

Front and rear get turned on both when you press the button and when you go into reverse. When you get above about 15mph it's auto-off again. You can't just turn on one set of sensors AFAIK. HTH.

but what happens if you engage reverse, so that both sets of sensors come on, and then press the button. In some VW group cars it will de-activate the front sensors only in others it turns them all off.
being able to turn fronts off but leave rear on makes sense to me as its really annoying when coming off my drive - i know the garage door is there as i can see it and dont care as its in front of me and im going backwards - i just want rear sensors on only !!!

That's what happens. Pushing the button will turn the front sensors off and leave the rear ones on.

thanks !that use to happen to my skoda until i took it to the garage for some work to be done and they messed up the coding. now the button turns all sensors off not just front. they cant work out how to get it back. lots of other skoda superb drivers having the same issue. 50% of cars work as they shoudl and 50% are the opposite :zx11:

I had such questions before I took delivery of mine. However, as I see it, when you engage reverse gear, both front and rear sensors are activated such that you can say, reverse into a space and then drive forward and you'll get warning of both back and fron manoeuvres. When you subsequently drive off (they will presumably have been cancelled by turning off the ignition) and so if you want the front ones on only, then if you press that button they will activate and you can hear and see how close you are to the car in front as you pull out - I have never thought about whether the rear ones are activated as well.
I look upon that button as being a sort of manual overriding control in that if the sensors are 'off' then they'll be turned on and vice versa.

Where I park on my fron driveway, I have to do a sort of two point turn in order to drive the car out forward into the road. I therefore engage reverse gear and reverse towards the fence that separates me from my neighbours and the rear sensors warn me as I approach and then I engage 1st gear and turn sharpish right and my sensors warn me of a bordering low brick wall separating the driveway from the grassed area. It is then still active as I approach the pavement and sounds off if any pedestrian walks across the front of the car. The whole thing is then cancelled as I drive away along the road orr unless I cancel it by pressing the button.

but for me its annoying that as soon as i engage reverse the front sensors tell me my garage door is there - i know its there as i can see it and im going staight back so i dont care. i prefer to turn off the front by pressing the button and leave the backs on. I used to do this before the coding got messed up !!! also when parking up to a wall, forwards, its handy to be able to turn the fronts on without the rears going off everytime someone walks past the car !!

Yes, I do remember now that the button turns on the front ones so that, as you say, they can be turned on if you are approaching a wall against which you want to park with reasonable accuracy.
