I spent 15 years as a technical advisor with a leading brand of spark plugs so I can assure you they are not all the same. The plugs recommended for your vehicle have been selected as a result of temperature testing on an engine and/or rolling road dynamometer. Unless you have modified the engine or are using it under extreme conditions, stick to the recommended type of plug.
Changing to a 'colder' grade can cause fouling (black sooty deposits) and misfiring. Changing to a 'hotter' grade can result in burnt electrodes and serious engine damage.
