Hi there,

My 110 TDI never completely reaches 90 degrees Celcius, most of the time it is around 80 Celcius. I remember seeing other temperature gauges for 90 TDI being exactly, all the time, at 90 degrees.

Since I am having issues with my engine - stops randomly and most of the time when around 80 degrees - I was wondering if my problems could be related to engine temperature management. What are your engine operating temperatures, are you experiencing variation or always the same reading?

Thanks

Do you think it is something simple like the temp sensor?

My mate said his TT started doing the same thing and it was the start of major electric faults

Temp sensor and/or thermostat would the first things to change.

 Hi New to all this but have the same problem with my 1.9TDI.

Have read through various threads, very helpfull.
The sensor and temp gauge are OK checked with boiling water as suggested. So purchased a thermostat ; problem is where is it located?

Removed the casing on the top RHS (where the sensor is) but sign of the stat! Can someone please advise

Thanks

Hi, I removed the temperature sensor(Green body) from the RHS of the head.
Pull out the plastic retaining clip and be carefull not to loose the sensor O Ring seal!

Turn ignition on then either pour boiling water over the end of temp sensor or dip it into boiling water in a shallow container. Carefull not to scold your hands or get water into the electrics!!! Gauge should indicate 90 if all is OK
