Hi,

I've done some digging on the site ref key fobs etc but cant find an answer to this. MY question is - do all coupes have remote central locking. I have keys but no remote fobs. My car (1995 Audi Coupe 2.0E 8v) does have central locking (beeps when I lock the door with the key), but I wonder if all of them have remote and I would just need to buy a key fob (else plan b would be to get a alarm/immobiliser fitted and have it work the central locking too - but thats gonna cost a bit, esp if the key fob was £50 or so!).

Be good to know, thanks.

Hey jonno,I would say that at that age your original fob set up has been lost years ago.
You might find the dealer could put you back on track, or a specialist may be able to help
RE ORIGINAL QUESTION; My 93 5 pot coupe had remote c/lock immobiliser but it actually only had keys remaining and my current 95 v6 coupe has it all on the fob.
Speaking to a vag specialist I know he says that these older systems were a royal pain in the proverbial back in their day, so as you suggested a retro fit might be a good solution.

Cheers stuart - appreciated. Yup I'll either make do or use the key then!

Good luck with your cabrio purchase too, I wouldnt pay too much money for it, as otherwise you'll top out on what its worth vs what you need to spend to get it properly road worthy.

To be totally honest its the 18" rs4's Im mainly after, but if the rest of the thing is remotely salvagable who knows what could come of it.
