VW stereo unlock

Hey, im wanting to take my sony head unit out of my car and replace it with the origional radio that came with the car. unfortunatly i dont have the code written down in and of the manuals or on the head unit itself.

i have read on the internet that you can generate the code using computer software yourself, i had a search around and every lead ends in disapointment.

can anybody help? its for a 1998 mk 4 golf

It would be much cheaper in the long run to purchase an origional radio with code from ebay by far.( circa £10-£15)
Only VW can get you the code if it is legit, and the decders charge £40
