Hello all!!

Newbie here!!

Please excuse me if I s"step on some toes" or break a few rules here but my time is quite limited. I don't really have the time right now to paruse this website for the answers that I'm looking for so if ya'll will excuse me......:Blush2:

I have an 01 Jetta Wolfsburg w/1.8T. and it seems to die on a regular basis......when I slow down and come to a stop. If it doesn't die it surges a few time and levels out to a normal idle......simply put.

It accelerates well and doesn't hesitate at hwy speeds or anything of that nature....it does hesitate when starting out after first warm up of the day.

Also, it gets terrible gas mileage.....I mean atrocious gas mileage. I have an 89 GMC pick up that gets better mileage than my Jetta.:aargh4::1zhelp::banghead::dunno:

I'm not a mechanic but I do have mechanical ability. I sell parts for a living....OK, medium and heavy duty truck parts....diesel at that, but I did work at Advance Auto parts for 1-1/2 years....(and I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night

You really need a fault code read,could be a number of items causing the problem,lambda zonde to mention one.
