Hi...

Longshot here, but here goes...

Could the DIS be calculating in US gallons instead of Imperial gallons.

380 miles (US Gallons) converted to (Imperial Gallons) = 316, which is about what I'd get to a tank full.

380 / 14.07 = 27... never get, wish I did.

316 / 14.07 = 22.45 ish... now thats about right.

Is there a setting in the set up / menu of the MMI, I'll have to take a look tomorrow.

This might be a long shot or I've just come across a calculation that works...

The only way that is possible is if the instrument cluster is coded for USA

The DIS on my B7 was cronic.

Always said a good 5-8mpg more than I actually did.

How can Audi have it so wrong when wifeys ED30 is always on the nail when I have checked it.

I will fill the newey up tomorrow and give it a good check.

Seems unlikely. . . My DIS is typically over-optimistic by about 5% although it ranges from 3-9%. An imperial gallon is about 20% bigger than a US gallon* so yours must be way off if it does look like that.

* ironic that - I'd expect it to be the other way around ;)

I'm pretty sure there is one buried in the MMI setup screen in my A6 (you can change various units of measurement). I will check this morning. There's a fair chance the B8 might have the same options too.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting theory. I have noticed settings in the MMI to choose litres or gallons but it doesn't offer "Gallons (US") and "Gallons (UK)" so I wonder which one its calculations is based on.

My money would indeed be on US gallons.

OK - I checked and found the option. It's in Setup/Measurement Units.

This is 3G MMI, by the way.

The DIS is very optimistic and can be tweaked to more realistic values using VAG COM.
