Right, this intermittant problem has plagued my car since i got it.Always could feel every now and again car loses power, and thwn other times is fine.Checked pipes for splits, coil packs,plugs,N75,replaced DV,and now put on a boost gauge and when the drop happened it went from 0.6Bar to 0.1 instantly in second gear at 4.5K revs. So, im now thinking the re-occuring intermittant fault on Vag-com which is G66 knock sensor resistance too low is too blame?Anyone else had this G66 fault?

Hi T.Sport, I know this is an old thread but this sounds exactly like what my a3 is up to. Did you manage to remedy it?

Yeah i did. Turned out it was a faulty knock sensor. Every now and then it would fault and cut out all the boost pressure. Mine was flagging up an intermittant knock sensor fault on Vag com as well

Hi,
I'm suffering a similar problem and am searching the forum for answers. Could I check if my symptoms are the same as yours?
The car drives fine one minute, then all of a sudden doesn't transmit power to the wheels. The car eventually grinds to a halt but the engine is still runnning. Quite randomly it comes back to life again.
Sound familiar?
Thanks,
Bartoosh

Doesnt sound like what i had.Mine was a knock sensor fault. Yours sounds more like an ECU issue, best thing to do would be put it on VAG COM

Thanks for the reply T.sport. Think a diagnostic is going to have to be the first port of call.
