Hi, I have a A3 TDi 1.9 2000, recently im having alot of trouble starting the car when its cold. Im guessing the cause of this is the immobilizer as the light does not go out and takes several attempts to start the car. Is it possible to switch the immobilizer off permanently?? Also the dash is playing up by not illuminating or the dials not working... Has anyone else had these problems?

Thanks

It sounds as though your dash panel is faulty and will need replacing; the immobiliser is in the dash unit. It can be permanently disabled but this costs more than having the panel repaired and not much less than having a new panel fitted at Audi.

Has anyone had their dashpods repaired instead of replaced? Is it easy to remove the unit??

Thanks

Sometimes they can be repaired, try BBA Reman. Pulling the unit is quite easy.

It is possible to disable the immobliser and it's not that expensive. You could try having your clocks rebuilt but I've always found that to be expensive, the other option is buying a second hand replacement instrument cluster and having it coded to your car and the mileage corrected - I can do this for you as well as killing the immobiliser.

Please get in touch if there's anything I can do for you :beerchug:
