Hi I've just installed a new 149GB 2.5inch HDD in a SilverStone caddy model SST-TS02B, I have managed to format the WHOLE disc using Maxblaster to 149GB size? with FAT32 format??? I didn't think this was posible but it worked? I was under the impression that 127GB was the maximum with FAT 32?

Have started loading on songs in folders, I'm putting on 26 Folders A-Z and placing the music in these by Artests names. Am a little worried that this 4000 song maximum is going to spoil things here, but here goes.

This seems to work and I can navigate up and down the tree and see everything at present, but still got loads to add yet?

What my question is, I belive also the AMI can read "Playlists" How do I generate these for this HDD disc layout? Is this posisble to do if so How do I config these playlists using what software? Can these be generated from iTunes some how?

Sorry about all the questions:Blush:

I have been using Playlist Creator 3 which I think I originally saw mentioned on this forum. It works perfectly well for SD cards and USB HDD on AMI.

Ah - looks like there is now a v3.6...
I still don't have that many songs on, so cannot comment on the 4000 limit on HDD.

Thanks! Will check it out, I shouldn't need playlists really as all my album tracks are saved in the appropiatly labled folders, ie 01------ 02----- etc so will play in the correct order, its just I saw that the AMI had this playlist icon greyed out so it might be nice to make up some playlists of my oun.

Well as an update, I have have installed in my car over 15,000 tracks on some 945 Albums and it all seems to work!!!! ;)

So I put most under A - Z folders and some under Compilation, 60's 70's 80's for ease of navigating to them and it works!!;)

So this is on a AMI ver 2 I'm lead to beliave so I can now leave my expensive iPod @home and use this overwise redundent laptop HDD, and all's its really cost me is a SilverStone Caddy @ £14.99 from Scan.co.uk, and it all fits nicely on the tray..... sorted

Thanks for all those that helped me with this one, now I never need to bother with CD's again lol
