my a4's central locking pump has given up so i cant lock or unlock the car using the key. i can however use the key to open the windows and lock/unlock the car from the inside. all the locks work and the the alarm arms its self, just when you turn the key in the door nothing happens. the bill to cost it is just shy of a million pounds (ish), and other than being a pain i cant see the point in fixing it.
so will it pass the MOT in this condition?!
found loads of info about MOT's on 'tinterweb but this is too specific for there descriptions!
any thoughts/definitive answeres would be good...

My understanding is that you must not be able to be trapped in the car. So as long as you can open all doors from inside you should be ok. I don't think they have to lock, you just have to be able to get out.

The only other point i'd raise is the fuel cap, this should be lockable etc. If this is indipant of the central locking then you'll have no issues

apparantly the locks and the fuel cap lock are on different circuits, and there seems to be just enough power to lock the petrol cap, should get away with that i hope.....

Whenever I've watched an inspector do my car I've never seen them check it's lockable, however it should be part of their check

i think i will get away with it because it will not effect the workings or safe operation of the car. the only things that are at risk are my personal belongings, and the car, but no one is in danger through the fault.... tricky one methinks! my first car didnt have central locking and i was forever leaving all but the driver side locked, a bit different though!
