Pressing the button once turns the ASR off, Press and hold turns the ESP off as well.
Press it again turns them both back on (Default is ON)

You hold the button down for 6 seconds to de-activate ESP & ASR - Why would you unless on a track day?

You wouldn't... I'd just read it on another forum, so I thought I post a FYI thread.

They didn't go to the effort of putting the switch there for trackdays. It's for when you need to rock it out of mud etc or when driving on snow. ;)

Really ;) - I thought the A4 was useless in snow unless you have quattro - No Problem for you Scotty - I will love the challenge when I get my S3 - Haldex cars as you know do not get on in the snow

I have a 2.0T FWD and regularly turn the ESP off if I want to cross country quickly, as any slip leaves you stranded behind older hot hatches coming off roundabouts, whilst the ESP 'helps you out'.

I've played with both in the snow.

Check these videos for the results :

My old S4 - Torsen quattro : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6746097996028243904&ei=S6u2SrfPCpXS-AbAvcSTAg&q=scotty(uk)+snow#

An A3 3.2 - Haldex quattro : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5597525381921924423&ei=eau2StiZPNyf-Ab964CRAg&q=scotty(uk)+snow#

I have to admit that the snow was a lot better for my playing in my S4. ;)
