New polo

antyone seen the auto express review, were the new polo diesel finishes last after the mazda, clio and fiesta, i was surprised by this

I have not seen the Auto Express review yet but I have read the new review in What Car? magazine in which the Polo 1.4SE beats all of the competition. The diesel has not been as well received compared to the petrol models due to engine refinement being a bit lacking. I am surprised that Auto Express have rated it lower than others given that their reviews were the most praiseworthy of all at the launch. Saying that, Auto Express is a pretty low quality car magazine in terms of accuracy and reporting. Still, as with most of these reports, the winning car will vary depending on trim level, engine, price etc. It must be said though that the best cars in this class are all pretty good and for the Polo to not finish first in a particular test would not put me off.

Ok, just read the report in Auto Express. The usual criticisms of the 75ps diesel here with lack of poke and refinement being the main issue. The petrol Polo (1.4) has beaten all of it's rivals in other tests so it will be interesting to see how the 90ps diesel fares....Again, wouldn't really give too much credibility to anything published in Auto Express given the tabloid depth journalism.

Take a close look at the picture of the Polo's rear end in Auto Express - talk about rough around the edges!
There is only one worthy engine - the TSi.
