Alright matie.. im looking for the same thing as you at the moment. Theirs plenty out their! ive had a look thought some of the previous posts and most say the lumps are pretty bullet proof aslong as they have a regular services and will do 200,000 miles. I think the main thing to look out for is electrics.. like windows, ac, lights ect. My mate had a 04 golf and he had a battery drain from the heater system but these are things you can check so its luck of the draw.

80k being high milage
80k is considered low mileage, especially on a VW ;) you should do a search, but look for poor maintenance history, this means invoices and job detail..not just stamps in a service book. Main dealer history inst always better. Make sure the cambelt has been change 60K or 4 years and look for documented evidence of this as is expensive to have done.
The 130 TDI is probably the best of all golf tdi's for being tough and reliable. better than the 150 ;)

as above,by onzarob, spot on.
i have the bora 130 (same thing but with a boot) 2001,51reg-78k and running like new.
unbelievable torque,6th on the motorway is a dream, and the acceleration through the gears is brilliant considering what else is out there costing so much more.
clean oil is a MUST with the pd engines, service history too,if you don't know who you are buying from, but get a good one,and you won't want to change it!!!,
good luck with your search,
regards,
stewy.
