Hi, I have a 2000 a3 which only has one key(3 button), is it possible to program this key so i can use it to lock/unlock the doors. I have read elsehwhere that i need to use a second key in the door to do this procedure is it possible to program without a spare/second key????

Thanks

I have never had any success with the alleged two key programing method, I always use VCDS (VAG-COM) which can be done with one key.

There is a help section here

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vw-remote-matching.html (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/vw-remote-matching.html)

Obviously you will need a registered copy of VAG-COM (at least 409) and a suitable VAG-COM cable.

Hi

Not sure if you got it working but I had the same problem. Then I opened the driver door using the key and when I got in the alarm sounded. I then pressed the unlock button on the fob and the alarm went off and the fob started working again. I didn't have to go through with the other instructions e.g. switching the ignition on etc. It might be worth a try.

Cheers
