bubbled roof on 2000 s3

is this a major problem, i know audi warranted it but what repair work will be done?

Common fault,

You have a 12 year anti-corrosion warranty. As long as its not been resprayed (Audi will check this with a paint depth guage) you should be able to get it done, having said this you may get a different story from one Audi garage to the next, but stand firm and if all else fails rings AudiUK. As for the work done they take it back to bare metal and respray it.

The twelve year corrosion warranty is perforation from the inside out, I would be shocked if the warranted surface rust on a nine year old car.

Ive got this happening to mine its a 2000 a3....does it matter if the car is second hand? Or are they covered by it as long as it under 12 years old? This is the first ive ever heard of it!!

Makes no difference if its second hand, the warranty is with the car not the owner.

I cant see them covering that- it's not corrosion from inside out?! its just surface rust.. not coverd in warranty.

Bubling is from the inside out. Just go to Audi and see what they say.

As Crasher,correctly stated,the 12 year rust warranty,is only valid if there is perforation in the steel,(which means there has to be a hole in the roof) Although the bubbles are in fact zinc oxidation,and do originate from remains trapped by the manufacturing process,of the steel,this type of damaged is only covered by the 5 year warranty.So in reality,you have another 3 years, and hope, by that time there is a hole in the damaged area,first then is the 12 year corrosion warranty valid.
