Only had my car for a few days and have already had 2 different people flash me thinking I have left my lights on, is this a common occurrence?
I think they flash to say "hey.. cool car man"
I flash them back to say "i know"
But.. yes... I do get this often (LED's)
I may switch the DRL off soon.

Flashing the xenons is fun. It's like a lightning flash.....and naughty to do near Gatso's. You see peoples eyes in their mirrors popping out their heads :D

I've never had anyone flash me, well apart from a lady at the side of the road one night, but I put that down to the amount she looked to have drunk rather than my lights, and I think we are talking a different kind of flashing!
I do like Scotty's idea!!!

the leds and normal night light are bright but people should realise all xenon lights are bright now..
anyways ... i usually put my high beams on and show them that what the high beams are like haha

Just celebrated 18 months of driving an A4 with LED DRL/Xenons.

I've switched the DRLs off, i now just switch on the sidelights so the LED's are less intense.

Am I missing something here? I might be, so go easy on me... but one of the reasons I waited for and got the S line was for the smiley LED DRLs (some well placed other half pressure at the time <sigh>)... so are we talking about turning them off (the smiley LEDs?) during normal driving?
If so, why? Because they're too ostentatious and Audi drivers don't like feeling like that? Showing off n' all that? Or what? Or are we talking about something else entirely? If we are talking about what I think we are, then I must admit that I'm really surprised... so I bet we're not.

I'm with you Hippogriff. I have no intention of turning mine off to keep a few uneducated "Rover" drivers satisfied.
DRL's are to be compulsory by law on all new passenger cars from early 2011. Audi are one step ahead and those "flasher" drivers will soon have to get used to it. I feel we have a job to educate these people!
Although I love the look of the DRL's in any event surely it is safer to drive with these than without?
Although the LEDs are bright, DRLs are certainly the law in a few years. Regardless what the greenies say the LEDs use less energy to run.
The new Cavalier/Vectra/Insignia (One all over body spray ) has DRL albeit normal ones, the new E class has LEDs, 911s have them, Volvos have had DRLs for year and BMWs have those Angel eyes things, so these people flashing normally get a full beam from me to show them just how bright my lights really go.
They also look better than driving around with the side lights on and fogs like a Cavalier VXR does a few doors away from me. They were part of a £2.5K Sline pack, im certainly not switching them off

As a B7 driver I can say that an S-Line B8 with the LEDs does get my attention. And you know what, that's the point of DRLs so they are doing their job!
I wouldn't say they are overly bright to annoy me though and it's a nifty feature how one side dims when indicating.
I would love to get a set of these if I still have the B7 when the DRL law comes in:

Well, that's the best reasoning. I was just wondering if we were talking about something else, but I couldn't fathom what. They're staying on on mine and I even wanted to investigate finding a friendly VAG-COM person who would enable a few things for me (if I decided I couldn't take the plunge myself) and the DRLs on full - even when indicating - might have been one.
Is THE LAW going to be retrospective then? You'd not think so, would you - but who knows what muppetry muppets will get up to when muppeting around.

Pretty certain the change in law will only apply to New cars.

The law will be that all cars, will have to drive with lights on at the front, so new cars will have DRL's, old cars will just have to put sidelights/headlights on.
They've been doing it in Canada for a few years now.
From next year all new cars will have to have tyre pressure monitors, but that can only be a good thing given the state of some peoples motors.

I really hope not !!!
I get DRL's and they're different to headlights etc. However I ride a motorbike and one of the few indentifying things we have to stand out from the background is a headlight. Once everyone is turning their headlights on then we'll be even more invisible :(
I know there's been loads of research on it and the outcome was that manufacturers should install DRL's rather than just force the lights to be on. Making the old cars turn on would totally go against all the research.
Hi Guys, I am hpoing you can answer my query regarding the Daytime LED lights....
Can you confirm if both front led lights should be of same colour? My near side led lights are less brigther then the off side?? Is this normal or do I need to take it to Audi to get it checked??
Many thanks

Yes it should be symetrical.
