View Full Version : Service question!

Would it be reasonable to expect the workshop to report back after a major service that some additional work like brake replacement would be due fairly shortly after that same major service?
eg: Major service in mid-May and then front and rear discs (and pads) replaced a month later.
Would it be reasonable to expect the workshop to have picked up on the state of the brakes at that stage? Obviously talking about servicing at dealer here.
Your views or informed opinions welcome.
When my cars in for a service, I either receive a phone call saying brakes are low & do I want them doing or when I collect the car I'm told that I have plenty of meat on them. Same with any other problems or potential problems, I get a phone call to give me the option of repair or not.

I'd expect them to cover off a basic vehicle check and feed back accordingly, however I imagine this is often missed

Thanks! I would have figured as much. In fact, I USED to get that sort of thing from the dealership before, but for some strange reason, driving a brand flagship car doesn't seem to qualify for even the most basic of service levels anymore. Not that I'm trying to be uppity because I drive the top end car, (I bought it because I use it expressly for work), rather that I would have thought that a top end car user, and one that potentially replaces it every 3 to 4 years, would be considered a worthwhile long term customer. Apparently not!

I would expect them too if only for them to tout for the business. Martins VW did when I brought my car in for warrantee work and my usual garage (Mendem Motors) do too (acutally they usually call me to do the work there and then if they can fit it in).
